About Dunfermline Amateur Swimming Club (DASC)

A PATHWAY FOR ALL SWIMMERS ... AND VOLUNTEERS

Dunfermline Amateur Swimming Club (DASC) is a friendly, family-oriented club committed to helping swimmers of all ages and abilities enjoy and develop their swimming. Whether you're looking to swim recreationally or compete at the highest level, we provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone can progress at their own pace.

As a 100% volunteer-run club, we rely on the dedication of our coaches, committee members, and parent volunteers to create a supportive and well-structured swimming environment. Our goal is to nurture a love for the sport while providing every swimmer with opportunities to grow and achieve their personal best.

We take pride in being an accredited SwiMark Plus club, the highest quality standard awarded by Scottish Swimming. This recognition highlights our dedication to strong coaching, effective management, and creating a safe, child-friendly space where swimmers can thrive.

Our Squads

At DASC, we offer a structured squad system to ensure each swimmer receives the right level of training and support for their ability and goals:

  • Dolphins (Entry Level) – For young swimmers (5+) who can swim at least 10 metres unaided. This squad focuses on water confidence and basic technique in a fun and supportive setting.
  • Bronze Development & Bronze Squad – For swimmers progressing beyond learn-to-swim levels, focusing on stroke development, endurance, and an introduction to competitive swimming through club galas and novice leagues.
  • Silver Development & Silver Squad – These squads refine technique across all four strokes, improve stamina, and introduce competitive swimming skills such as starts, turns, and race strategy.
  • Gold Squad – Our top managed squad, designed for swimmers committed to competitive performance. Training focuses on endurance, speed, and race preparation for regional and national competitions.
  • Platinum & Masters Squads – For experienced swimmers (16+) looking to maintain fitness, refine technique, or train for other disciplines like triathlon or water polo.
  • The Polar Bears (Open Water Squad) – For those who love the challenge of open water swimming, this squad braves the local lochs during the spring and summer months, embracing the cold and developing endurance and technique in outdoor conditions.

We are also currently trialling a Youth Competitive and Junior Competitive squad in collaboration with InCAS, providing a more intensive training pathway for swimmers who wish to pursue a higher level of competition. This initiative offers dedicated coaching and access to additional training sessions for those aiming to reach their full competitive potential.
