Dunfermline Amateur Swimming Club is a member of Scottish Swimming and has gained their swiMark qualification. SwiMark is Scottish Swimming’s quality aquatic development programme for clubs. The aim of swiMark is to provide a nationally recognised standard that will enable clubs to:

  • Develop safe, effective and child friendly environments, based on good practice
  • Improve swimmers, teachers, coaches and volunteers
  • Encourage lifelong participation through sustainable swimming development pathways

We take great pride in the reputation of our club as being inclusive, welcoming, friendly and family oriented. We cater for all levels of swimmer and seek to assist each individual to achieve whatever they desire from their participation in water sports. We have a range of swim squads catering for early swimmers to competitive swimmers and masters. The squads are ability based and a programme of development provides progression through the squad structure.

Membership is open to anyone over 5 years old as long as they are at school and can swim 5 metres un-aided and be confident getting in and out of the water without assistance.  A trial swim will be assessed by one of our coaches so that a suitable squad can be chosen.  We have 5 squads:

Dolphins (5+ years old) - train on Fridays at Carnegie Leisure Centre 6-7pm

Bronze (6+ years old and can swim 6+ lengths non-stop in 2 of the 4 strokes) - train on Fridays at Carnegie Leisure Centre 6-7pm and Saturdays at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre 2-3pm

Silver (8+ years old and fully competent in all 4 strokes) - train on Tuesdays at Invekeithing High School 6-7pm, Fridays at Carnegie Leisure Centre 7-8pm and Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre 3-4pm

Gold (10+ years old and advanced in all 4 strokes) - train on Wednesdays at Carnegie Lesiure Centre 8-9.30pm and on Fridays 7.30-9.30pm.  On Saturdays they train at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre 2-4pm

Platinum (16+ years old) - train on Wednesdays at Carnegie Lesiure Centre 8-9.30pm and on Fridays 8-9.30pm

While our main goal is to nurture and develop swimmers to a level of competence where they may represent the club at competitive events, we also recognise the general fitness and social benefits to be derived from active participation within a safe and structured environment.

To see us in action, to find out more or to ask any questions, just come along on our 'Club Night' each Friday evening at Carnegie Leisure Centre from 6-9.30pm where there will be someone from our committee in the viewing areas to speak to.
